15th Anniversary of a Legend

Today, 30th June 2008, I would like to dedicate this post to a truly music legend that Hong Kong has known. The legend of Wong Ka Kui, the founder and lead vocalist of the band, Beyond..

I came to know this band since I was in secondary school when they release the song called "Cheong Sing" and being in a Christian school and ain't know how to read Chinese, I truly fell in love with their songs and found that the songs are meaningful and it really touches my heart.. (But of course, I understand Cantonese ler.. Its my mother tongue.. hehe..) From there on, I've been a fan of this band until now..

Ka Kui's spirit of the music has inspired me a lot and every album that they releases carries different themes and message embedded in the lyrics including commentary on social and political issues, war and peace, love for his culture, pursuing dreams, perseverance and the strength to never give up. Take the album of "Glorious Days" for example. This album addressed racism and was dedicated to Nelson Mandela, the political leader who was imprisoned for opposing South Africa's minority government on its policy of apartheid. Not content to simply sing about the problem, Beyond travelled to Africa for firsthand knowledge of the situation and to see how they can contribute in improving conditions. After this trip, the Beyond Third World Foundation was created and Ka-Kui wrote "Amani", a song about peace.

In the year of 1993, a shocking news came to me that Ka Kui has passed away in due of an accident where he fell from a 7 feet stage in Japan when he was shooting a programme for Fuji TV.. The day was 15 years ago.. 30th June 1993.. This news shocked the Hong Kong music industry as well as in Malaysia.. Particularly me..

It has been 15 years now since they day he left the world but his spirit of music still remain in this world as the other 3 of the members , Paul Wong, Yip Sai Wing & Wong Ka Keung (the younger brother of Ka Kui) continued the spirit of Ka Kui until the year of 2003 when the band parted their own separate ways.

I’m still in hope that Beyond could get back together and continue the spirit of Ka Kui’s music. I’ve attached a song that Ka Kui have written which lead to a hit song that known around the world..

Enjoy.. Beyond forever...

Paradise..

Ok.. I know that I have been a bad boy for not maintaining by blog.. I apologise for that..

So far as at to now, everywhere, and most of blogs are talking about current issues in M'sia.. Petrol price hike, how the gomen is treating the citizen (not good stuff you know), why this fellow like this, why like that...

Hm.. As for me, I really can't think what I still can comment about them.. The more you talk or the more you comment, you'll probably end up in jail for talking too much.. So where's the democracy that they are claiming at?? I found no point to talk about them and make myself get more angry from day to day looking at what's going on in this pathetic country.. You might be questioning that "You also live here what.. You dun like, you cabut lah" Hm.. Kinna familiar ler this quote.. hehe.. If you know who I'm referring to right??

Not to say I dun want to cabut.. and also why should I.. It's not that I dun like.. Its just pure dissappointment.. Hm.. Better dun talk so much ler.. Later kena ISA.. hehe.. In the end, they really need to buck up before this entire country goes down to the drain.. hehe..

I'll try to update the blog more often now.. Must find a way.. hehe..
